Flower Mound is located along the north shore of Lake Grapevine and is known for it's many planned communities, great schools, and great amenities. Flower Mound was recently selected by Money magazine as one of the best places to live in the United States. A large mound, covered in flowers in the springtime, still stands in Flower Mound, marked by an iron fence and a historical marker. The founding settlers discovered this mound in the 1840s, thus the town was named. The mound is located near the center of town, on the northeastern side of the intersection of Flower Mound Road and Long Prairie Road. The most recent commercial development can be found at the intersection of Long Prairie Road and Justin Road, bordering Highland Village. Anchor stores, on either side of the intersection, include Lowe's and Target.
